OUR ANIMAL SANCTUARY
Spring Farm CARES is home to about 250-300 animals, including 32 horses and ponies, 3 donkeys, goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, dogs, cats, rabbits, and a couple of exotic birds. Animals not adopted are guaranteed a home here for life. The dogs and cats live in rooms furnished like living rooms, enjoying as much of a "home" atmosphere as possible. We do not euthanize to make room for new animals, HOWEVER, when we are full, we are full and must turn animals away. With today's animal overpopulation, we are always full. And we are forced to say no to about 60 cats and 20 dogs per week. This is how strong the need is for help with animal overpopulation. The numbers are staggering. But the daily reality of people asking us to take their animals that they no longer want or can't keep for a myriad of reasons, is even harder to understand and endure.
Taking in animals, alone, can not solve this problem. It is why Spring Farm CARES has a multi-faceted approach to working with and within our community to make a difference. Our Happy Hearth Spay/Neuter Program tries to help cut down on the population through the prevention of unwanted litters. Our Humane Education Program reaches out to groups in the community, from school age children to many other groups, to not just the proper care of animals, but also to being responsible stewards on this planet. Our Network Partners for Animals Program aims to connect animal welfare organizations, groups, animal control officers, and concerned citizens in order to pool our resources and work together.
And the main thing that sets us apart from any other animal sanctuary in the entire world is that we are the World's First Center for the Teaching of Interspecies Communication. We, and the 250-300 animals who live with us in the sanctuary, are teachers. This means that we and these animals - some of whom are Master Teachers - work together, pooling our talents in workshops, to help students re-member the telepathic skills with which they were born.... the ability to telepathically communicate with everything in the Universe.... a skill usually programmed out of each of us by school age. At Spring Farm CARES, our goal is to be a center where people can come to reconnect to the Universe at large and to understand the heart and souls of all of life around them, including themselves.
