At Spring Farm CARES Nature Sanctuary, we are driven by a deep commitment to restoring the intricate biodiversity that once thrived here before European settlement. Our goal is to heal the land, encourage wildlife and native plants to flourish, and build a sanctuary that not only endures but thrives in the face of climate change. Each project, each planting, and each animal encounter speaks to a vision where balance and harmony are carefully nurtured and protected.
We reintroduce native species, many rare or threatened, giving them the chance to reclaim their place in the ecosystem. We manage invasive plant species with thoughtful, ecological stewardship. We monitor and care for wildlife, from the tiniest pollinators to keystone species whose presence shapes entire landscapes. And as the climate shifts, we carefully guide new species into the ecosystem, ensuring that the future of this land is as vibrant as its past.
But importantly, we welcome the public to join us through tours, education, volunteerism, and shared wonder.
Our promise is simple: this is a sanctuary in every sense of the word.
We do not poison, trap, or destroy any creature. Nor do we use heavy-handed methods to implement our projects. Instead, we use patient, organic, and unobtrusive techniques to protect new plantings and allow wildlife and native flora to flourish.
You will not find hunting, trapping, or fishing here. Instead, you’ll find a haven for all wildlife, with human activities carefully planned to avoid disturbing breeding activities or disrupting life cycles. Even the use of motorized equipment is strictly limited, allowing the sanctuary to remain a place of peace and tranquility – somewhere wildlife can go about their lives undisturbed, and where they can thrive.
Every living being here from our oldest most majestic tree to our most humble pollinating insect are treated with respect, reverence, and care.
